Vulnerability also depends on barriers
Homelessness, schedules, language, fear of being judged, or transportation difficulties can keep a person away from services. They do not describe their value or their ability to decide.
Bringing a service closer is a first step. It is also important to listen, explain options, and facilitate continuity of care. Let's avoid assuming needs or diagnoses based on appearance, identity or origin.
Before, during and after a visit
Before
Explain what is offered, where and when. Clarify the actual requirements, accessibility, costs if any and the language support available. Each unit has its own offer.
During
Ask how to address the person. Find a private space, explain the tests and allow questions. Don't promise anonymity if the circuit requires identification.
When finished
Agree on how to find out the results and how to continue care. Check that the contact route is safe for the person. Provide information they can take away.
as a team
Review waits, referrals and losses to follow-up without blaming people. Includes community experience in improving service.

Stigma and human dignity
A connection between information, listening and community attention.
Viral Stigma and Hepatitis at MOBHOPE (opens another tab) ↗The MOBHOPE website places the evaluation of stigma and the development of interventions to reduce discrimination and facilitate dignified care in WP3. This section connects stigma.info materials to that work; does not present these brochures as validated measurement instruments.
MOBHOPE describes units of UMC · Madrid Positivo in Spain, Ares do Pinhal in Portugal and Hepatos in Croatia. Its stigma and hepatitis page brings together project information and access to questionnaires by country.
Consulting informative material and participating in research are different decisions. The information and consent for each questionnaire must be read on the project platform. No answers or health data are collected here.
